Start from zero — keep a simple product safer with AI

Designed for beginners. First sector words so AI makes sense; then light safety habits and vibe securing; then you harden a simple app yourself.

About The Program

No prior knowledge is required. The program starts by teaching the fundamentals of cybersecurity and systems management in clear terms. Participants learn topics such as networks, user and access management, operating systems, threats, vulnerabilities, logs, and basic security controls.

As the program progresses, participants learn how systems are protected, how risks are assessed, and how to approach security incidents. AI is integrated as a helper for threat analysis, log review, research, reporting, and decision support.

Throughout the training, hands-on work and team projects mirror real security workflows. Participants take on different responsibilities across monitoring systems, assessing risks, applying security controls, and coordinating with teams. The goal at the end is not merely to know security concepts — it is to gain foundational, practical competence in understanding how modern systems should be protected.

Program Courses: 5-stage program

1 · Foundation (2 Weeks) — Start from zero
No prior knowledge needed — we start from the very beginning
What is software and hardware — plain words only
What is an API, a database, frontend and backend
Server, hosting and cloud — where an app lives online
Sector words you’ll hear every day — so AI answers don’t feel foreign
How to write better prompts — ask AI clearly
Reading AI answers without getting lost
Everyday digital tools real teams use
2 · Specialization (4 Weeks) — Your track + building with AI
What “keeping a system safe” means — in plain words
Accounts and passwords — who can enter, who cannot
Simple threats — phishing, weak passwords, bad links
Logs and alerts — noticing when something looks wrong
Feel how safety work thinks — lightly, not deep theory
Then: vibe securing — use AI to check and explain risks
Ask AI about security without getting overwhelmed
First response mindset — what to do when something fails
3 · Individual Project (1 Week) — Finish with a simple app
Your task: make a simple app safer with AI — this completes your individual training
Add basic checks — login idea, safe storage, clear warnings
Write a short “what could go wrong” note with AI
Show your safer app and what you learned
4 · Teamwork (1 Week) — Students from every program, real roles
Together with students from every program: help keep a team app safe
Get your role — you are security / ops next to frontend & backend
Share simple checks with the team — no jargon overload
Team demo — one shared product, shared uptime story
5 · Real Product — Client project or a known product clone
Real brief: support a client project — or a known product clone
Own simple safety tasks on a product that is meant to go live
Use AI to explain risks and next steps in plain words
Present like a junior on a real ops / security team

Industry Outlook

“Today’s AI systems work better in the hands of skilled attackers — but they are increasingly able to act autonomously with only minimal guidance.”

Bruce Schneier
Security Technologist and Fellow, Harvard Berkman Klein Center

“AI is both an opportunity and a risk. That is why innovation and security must advance together.”

John O’Brien
National Security Director, Microsoft Canada

“Think of every system as a socio-technical system made of many parts — and all of those parts need to be secured together, in harmony.”

Yonatan Zunger
Vice President and Deputy CISO, Microsoft

“Future-ready cybersecurity teams must combine technical expertise, critical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.”

Sherrod DeGrippo
Director of Threat Intelligence Strategy, Microsoft
